Breaking Through Strongholds in Relationships

“And when they were in one accord…then…!” (Acts 2)

The Apostle Paul warned that some would display a form of Godliness, but deny the power. (II Tim 3:5) This begs the question: “Is the ‘modern’ Body of Christ a ‘crowd’ or a ‘group’?” God knew that the atonement of mankind to the throne of Heaven would demand a unique measure of power that would only be sustained via a conscious desire for unity. Is it any wonder that He reserved His most stringent disdain, “an abomination”, for those who would “sew discord among the brethren”? (Prov 6:19) Rather than weaken His body, the Lord desires a unity that will only serve to intensify His light and brilliance to a dark and evil world. Christian author, Pastor Rick Warren, notes, “As pastors, as shepherds of God’s people, it’s our job to protect our congregations from Satan’s greatest weapon – disunity. It’s not always easy, but it’s what we’ve been called to do." Paul implored the Hebrew Church to, “…not forsake the assembling together as the manner of some, even more as we see this day approaching.” (Heb 10:25-27) One thing is certain, a powerless church or people may be ill-equipped for “that day”. Before this day approaches, the enemy seems committed to convince believers that “organized religion” or church attendance is not a necessity. Each member of the Body of Christ must ask themselves, “Could I be the weak link in the chain of power?” An even more important question is, “What should I be doing to ensure I am not the weak link or an instrument of division?” Satan is looking for that one who would advocate hate and do his bidding. If we resist the urge to give the enemy access to our minds, mouths and tongues, we will become instruments of peace and lively stones for a church that is anchored to the Chief Cornerstone. Let’s seek to raise the banner of unity in the breeze of the Holy Spirit.

In His Love,

Pastor Ron
